FEMA ( The Federal Emergency Management Agency) recommends certain steps you should take after a flood event.

If it is safe check for any visible signs of structural damage. This could be a cracked foundation, warping or holes. Also turn off all electricity at the main circuit breaker. It is also very important to shut off all water.
